Frequently Asked Questions

For all of the rules and regulations relating to campaign donations, you can review the Municipal Elections Act for more details.

All residents of Ontario are allowed to personally contribute.  For a list of who 'cannot' donate, click here.

  1. There is a $1,200 limit that applies to contributions from other individuals.
  2. The maximum total amount that a contributor can give to candidates in the same jurisdiction (for example, running for the same council or for the same school board) is $5,000.
  3.  Only a contribution that is $25 or less can be made in cash. All contributions above $25 must be made by cheque, money order or by a method that clearly shows where the funds came from (such as certain debit, credit or electronic transfer transactions).

All contributions are used to help gather support and spread our message through advertising, signs and events.  All contributions are recorded in accordance with the Municipal Elections Act and any donor can feel free to reach out to me anytime to discuss how funds are used.

Any remaining contribution surplus after the elections must be turned over to the clerk.

Unfortunately,  contributions to municipal council and school board campaigns are not tax deductible.
